Carnivorous plants
Do not stick your fingers or other objects into the traps of carnivorous plants:
- Drosera (Sunflowers) have sticky parts or dewdrops (slimy tentacles) that could be damaged if touched
- Flytraps have sensitive traps that react to touch. Closing the traps unnecessarily can weaken the plant or, in worse cases, kill it
- Sarracenia have hollow cups that are used to catch insects. Pushing objects or rough handling can damage the function of the cups
- pinguicula have delicate sticky leaves that are used to catch small insects. Touching the traps can disrupt their function or completely limit it
- Heliamphora have fragile pitchers with a sensitive surface, improper handling can cause damage to the traps
- Nepenthes (pitcher) forms hanging pitchers with a closable leaf, which are very susceptible to mechanical damage, forcibly closing them can cause damage or even death
